Specific information about CareChain fees is available through your account. You may determine which health care services, if any, are provided using CareChain. You will be informed of CareChain fees before deciding to offer a health care service.

As an independent health care provider using CareChain, you determine which health care services are provided using CareChain, the locations from which such health care services are provided, and when and for how long such health care services are offered through CareChain. You have complete discretion to engage in activities or other business or employment endeavors.

Physiotherapists will receive patient appointment bookings through CareChain.

Only physiotherapists offering specialty assessment and triage services using CareChain’s NEURO-MSK AI SUPPORT MODULE will be permitted to refer patients to specialists when indicated.

CareChain supports two types of custodians of patient records: health care providers and partners (e.g., healthcare institutions) .

As a care provider, you remain the custodian of patient records connected to any health care services provided using CareChain, unless you are providing health care services from a practice location operated by a health care partner. In such cases, the health care partner will be the custodian of patient records connected to the health care services.

Please submit the registration form. A CareChain representative will be in contact with you with next steps.

PATIENT FAQ

Physiotherapists (also known as physios, physical therapists or PT) are healthcare professionals who specialize in helping people manage and restore strength, balance, and movement. They focus on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of physical problems caused by injury or illness. Physiotherapists work in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and other healthcare settings. In some instances, they may even visit a patient’s home. Physiotherapists engage in holistic care by providing patients with health promotion advice, manual therapy, and tailored therapeutic exercise programs.

In Canada, physiotherapists must complete a Master’s degree in physiotherapy (MscPT) from an accredited university. Most graduate physiotherapy programs have a comprehensive curriculum that involves lectures, labs, and a minimum of 1,000 hours of clinical work. Most provinces require that Physiotherapists pass the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) administered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulations (CAPR) before they begin their professional practice. By law, Physiotherapists are required to be licensed by provincial and territorial Regulatory Colleges to practice. After being licensed, physiotherapists must continually demonstrate that they are up-to-date on the best and current care practices by enrolling in continuing education programs throughout their careers.

A physiotherapist can treat an array of injuries and conditions, including orthopedic (e.g., neck and back pain, knee pain, hip pain, arthritis, etc.), neurological (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, vertigo, etc.), autoimmune (e.g., Fibromyalgia, Raynaud’s syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, etc.) and chronic (e.g., osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, etc.).

You should consider seeing a physiotherapist if you are experiencing constant or severe pain that extends beyond a few days. If you have adjusted your bodily movements to compensate for an injury or your pain can be reproduced by moving in a certain way, then you should consider booking a physiotherapy assessment. Although you do not require a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist, your doctor may refer you if you have had surgery (e.g., hip replacement) or experienced an acute health event (e.g., stroke) to assist you in your recovery.

In your first appointment, the physiotherapist will access your information on CareChain to do an initial assessment to confirm the nature of your physical problems and your medical history. Your physiotherapist will run several physical tests to understand your range of motion, strength, reflexes, flexibility, nerve response, ligament and joint stability, and any tenderness in specific areas. These tests will help inform diagnoses and determine an appropriate treatment plan for you, which may include referrals to other care providers. In your following appointments, your physiotherapist will deliver treatments that may consist of manual therapy techniques, exercises, cold/heat therapy, stretching, and more. These treatment techniques and activities will help you reach your recovery and well-being goals.
