ABOUT US

CareAxis®, a nonprofit licensing partner of CareChain, is advancing AI-based research and its translation to new or improved health services and technologies for patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.

PRIORITY 1: CONDITION DIAGNOSIS AND TRIAGE

Tools for clinicians to improve diagnosis and triage decisions.
AI applications will eventually go beyond supporting clinicians about possible clinical actions to performing triage and specialist referrals autonomously based on patient inputs alone. AI-based triaging shows great promise in decreasing the burden on healthcare systems and in directing specialist resources toward the patients most in need.

PRIORITY 2: PATIENT ENGAGEMENT AND ADHERENCE

Delivering tailored supports to improve patient outcomes.
AI represents a promising approach to improving uptake and adherence of self-management programs. AI applications can provide evidence-based advice on physical activity and tailor exercise training according to personal goals, personal characteristics, symptom progress, and functional ability and provide targeted educational content to individuals.

PRIORITY 3: PERIOPERATIVE AND SURGICAL OUTCOMES PREDICTION

Enabling specialists to predict surgical outcomes.
AI applications will have a major impact to surgery, particularly in the prediction of surgical outcomes. Post-operative disability, the occurrence of complications (e.g., cardiac complications, wound complications, venous thromboembolism, and mortality), readmission to the hospital, and return to work are examples of outcomes that may be predictable through AI.
